Sibiu 25 June 2007 iDesign signs Holland's National Chess Championship new visual identity iDesign Romania was chosen by Holland's Chess Federation to create a new visual identity of the National Chess Championship of Holland in order to bring a whiff of modernity and to ensure a correct perception of what this Championship means. The Chess Holland Alliance, the organizer of the Holland National Chess Championship got to the conclusion that the need for a new visual identity of the championship is stringency. The old visual identity could not succeed to transmit neither the challenges of the organizer nor the spirit of this competition. iDesign Romania was chosen in order to create a new visual identity which could bring a whiff of modernity combined with tradition which characterizes the National Chess Championship of Holland. iDesign team had to include these elements in the new identity so that the visual impact re-echoes in the public perception. Relying on the long-lived experience in this domain, iDesign team began the creative process by choosing a symbol that would astonish the identity of Holland as a national country. The symbol had to be solid and it shouldn’t leave place for different interpretation to the desirable ones. After more analysis the chosen symbol was that of a wind mill specific to Holland. The next step was the combination of this symbol with the symbol of Holland National Chess championship, the rook, everything being made in the color nuances of the Holland Flag. Cristi Rus, iDesign's Chief Creative Officer, describes the creative process : “ We've tried to reach, through the symbol, both the adult and the young public. We had to bring something new and friendly, versatile and long lasting. Along with the event's symbol it was also necessary to create the identity for the children competition and, at the same time, to ensure the possibility of a recurrent usage of the symbol for the following years. Therefore we had to integrate three graphic symbols into a single concept : the event and the two competitions”. The result was exceptional, the implementation of the Championship's new visual identity, signed by iDesign Romania, being a total success. iDesign Romania is an agency which specializes in brand design and consultancy, both in traditional and interactive media.
